WHISPERS OF INSPIRATION

For all His grace for us; For all the gifts and opportunities He gives us to live through these minutes, hours, days, weeks, months; For all His blessings from January to December, For all the friends and family He surrounds us with; What can we say to this wondrous Giver of Life? What can we say to this awesome God, ever rich in mercies? What can we say in our Praises and Thanksgiving to the Holy One? All too soon, we are at the end of another, and gradually inching to a new year. Let us join the Psalmist (Ps.137) to recount the deeds of the Lord in our lives. Let us remember Yahweh’s goodness to us and duly Thank Him. Even as we desire to know Him through our reflections on the Words of Sacred Scriptures, may we also be enlightened like St. Jerome to be nourished and filled by the fount of Life oozing from its rich reserve. As King Artaxerxes granted what Prophet Nehemiah asked (Neh.2:1-8), may God also grant in abundance all you asked and those you have not even asked. M

We walked the distance of days in months with grace. We moved through many opportunities in challenges. We caressed our appetites for many things through the year without necessarily considering the subtle or global effects on us or others. Many took million steps  of several beginnings in this year. Numerous others attempted but missed their steps or overstepped their boundaries. We also heard interesting news we are proud to listen to again or are even shy to learn from them. This year marked the entry of hundreds of millions through births, while millions exited through deaths. Some needless deaths of our compatriots could have been avoided if not for our benign negligence, yet we still find our voices to sing the never again mantra. This year holds pleasant and unpleasant memories for many of us with sticky experiences. People's thought and deeds in this year might either affect us or others positively or negatively. We may have our ups and downs this year, but

Seasonal messages are good, so long as they communicate our wishful intentions. Goodwill messages are beautiful so long as they tickle our minds and hearts. But beyond the goodwill messages, And the beautiful messages, We need REAL ACTION and GENUINE CONCERN for our fellow human beings. We are fairly where we are because we have multiple identities shaped by age long stereotypes. Our reality of what is, always rival what ought to be. But sadly, our identities has been inflicted with mostly borrowed and a disjointed view of others about us. We know of the loud frames of active psychology behind our identities. Even with our current steep psychosocial structure, which feeds on the rigid frames and stereotypes of others about us, we need to carefully rethink a collective identity.  We need to create our own identity frames, and evolve structural instruments of our personal development tailored on our unique needs. We cannot expect or entrust this duty to our best-loved politicians to execute, because it's too important to our very survival. It's a culturally design problem that needs a collective sociocultural answer. Our identity is critical in all we do. It's a vital factor in our goings and comings. So the harmattan is being accused of suffocating the growth of green cash in our pockets. From the market square we've heard the sentiments and complaints about the seemingly cashless seasonal Christian celebration.  But  Van Jones poignantly notes in a discourse that "Dr. King didn't get famous giving a speech that said,"I have a complaint." It's time for us to start dreaming again and invite the country to dream with us. We don't  have any 'throw away' species, nations, or children. We must birth a global green economy strong enough to lift people out of poverty". This call is key to restore a new perspective to our progress. So it was a Friday dawn and the 6K gossip swept through the wind. It was one Kwesi trying to tell Kojo about the character of Kwabena teasing Kwaku's ways of assessing how Kofi and Kwame walk on their father's farm. I don't know how Yaw was knocked off the K that was supposed to be in his name and became the odd one. But fact is that they all loved farming like their fathers. We can walk the talk in our thought. We can disagree in our disagreements or agree to disagree. But inasmuch as we may have our loud or subtle differences, or even be at loggerheads with each other, we are required to walk together. The celebrated South African music icon, Zensi Miriam Makeba (Mama Afrika), during her visit to Ghana in 1983, rightly advised: "let us no more fight over trivial things. Let's all try to walk together." Yes! It's not easy to walk together, without the normal usual petty squabbles, disappointments, vile gossips, wicked lies, and painful betrayals here and there. However we feel about these experiences, we still have a duty to never forget the need to talk and walk together to attain greater goals. With feeble effort the frailties of the vulnerable, the infants, and the sick hangs in the balance. Although God certainly is our help and health, their role to our survival is very critical. The efforts of our traditional midwives or 'midhusbands' (Traditional Birth Attendants), and our professional Midwives, as well as the tender care of mothers through ages. The doctoring of Doctors in time of sickness or accidents and the commitment of our nurses nursing the pains of our gains with grains of inspirations is commendable. The efforts of the orderlies, cooks, security guards, administrators, drivers (ambulance drivers) engineers and Mortuary men who ensure our survival or passage here all deserve a special mention today. So to the caregivers who toil day and night to take care of our health; To the caregivers who tender our farms to ensure we get our food from the market; To the caregivers who prepare delicious meals for us, and all others whose little great efforts m

For no tangible reason that Wednesday, the lazy side in me felt school was boring and so yours sincerely just decided not to go. The plea and persuasion by my first teacher to go to school fell on deaf ears. So she surprised me, by giving me some tolerable spanks that got me going. There were several of those morning laziness that was properly dealt with then, and my gratitude to the teacher is eternal. The sense of responsibility, discipline, respect and care these teachers taught us is commendable. There are teachers we encounter daily, through many instances, and at different places and stages of our lives. God the Almighty as the greatest teacher Himself has through nature and Providence taught us many things. He has also inspired and qualified teachers in our lives. Some are our Teachers, Tutors, Masters, Lectures, Catechists, Godmothers, Godfathers,  Supervisors, Colleagues, Subordinates, Parents, Prophets, Preachers, Mentors, Authors and almost everyone. We grow with many memories . We age reminiscing the fraternal bliss of yesteryear. They include moments of encounter with comrades who's effect on us invoke smiles. There are a beautiful few who earned the enviable family status in our lives, While a painful lot have betrayed the essence of our true comradeship, but we've certainly learnt valuable lesson from them. To that confidant, gossip-partner, To the bosom comrade of hope, To those who silently remember us in their prayers, To the familiar friend who dares to speak into our lives and tells us uncomfortable truth, And to all those who risked their comfort, or went the extra mile just to show genuine care, please convey my appreciation to them. It's a subtle concern in the air. It's a core duty staring in our faces. Sometimes the subject is drowned in the busy lake of our challenges. We seem to also sideline or shelve our foremost duty of Care. Perhaps, we can rethink the way we relate to the vulnerable persons in our immediate vicinities. We can try to listen to the silent words these friends are not saying. In fact, in our attempt to ascribe meanings or meddle in the sweet jargons of development, we should endeavour to work together to ensure NOBODY is left Behind in our progress march. The value of living the duty of care is far greater than the challenges or our fear of not caring. In whatever you please remember that somebody out there needs to feel the impact of your care, and they are counting on us not to fail them. Although some may be funny or  written anyhow, they nonetheless contain messages that might tickle us to think, reflect, evaluate ourselves or even speak to our peculiar situation. Some loudly scream at us daily, while others subtly engages our attention briefly. The glory of a new day greeted the gaiety of our eyes and bathed our hopes with the happy morning rays. But the delight of the sunshine kissed the forehead of this son spotted along the arms of Kaneshie-Mallam-Kasoa Highway, about 56metres from Mallam Market, Accra. Through the precious moments of count in our communication of compliments and complaints in our commitments, communities, cities, countries and continuous affairs of continents, we still thank God for His sustaining grace in caring to Care for us all. And from Zabzugu to Zambia, from Sukula to Sugar Loaf (Freetown), from Lɔmnava to Louisiana, from Osiabura to Ouagadougou, and from Accra to parts of Asia, trendy events still tickle our emotions but we cannot stop reflecting on the goodness of Jehovah. In recognition of His kindness, may we remember to number our days aright. May He grant us wisdom of heart, so that we may always conduct our lives as true servants of this awesome God. May this merciful God fill us with His blessings and kindness as we witness the last daybreak in August, so that we may act more responsibly

Through the walk and thoughts of ancient days, middle ages and in our present time; Through all the intricate paths of the people of the world, with our many actions, activities and inactions or reactions; And in the mystery of conception and death, and through the gates of maternity wards and the wailing walls of mortuaries, and of the various silent and inexplicable moments of life, there is no doubt a Supreme God still steers our affairs with a dedicated care. But how He manages to stitch the little little details of our lives in this continuous affairs is still a mystery. Why He still enriches our minds and our lives with all the gifts, talents, ideas and all we celebrate is still a mystery. How He manages to listen to the voices of millions and provide for the varied needs of the over 7.5billion people in the world is still unimaginable. Although we encounter and experience this life-giving God through people nature and all the things around us daily, we may not totally unde

History is replete with the account of people going to every length and extent to seek riches. Millions have for centuries chased this material comfort promised by riches. Others have sacrificed their dignity, lost their lives, with many being maimed in the search of this material riches. Countries have fought wars just to satisfy the lust for these riches. Companies still survive on the fruits of the sweat, toils and labour of people, so they can make an impact, while they milk their profit. Our society has accepted the dictum that money or richness is the currency of significance, status and power. The importance placed on monetary riches has made our social structure a blessed republic of money worshipers. Our Musicians continue to remind us of the relevance and essence of monetary riches, while our teachers and schools always reinforce this societal understanding subtly on the schooled. Religion which should guide us to understand the dynamics better is also suspect of this
