Why is Afrika, the world's most richly endowed continent, still home to the poorest people on earth? Why are the resolutions from many of these gatherings (conferences, seminars, assembly & summits), dedicated to answer this question still flirting with weakness? What's preventing us from linking our thoughts to our plans and actions in this natural fashion? Has it got to do with our assaulted mental will or our unpreparedness to seriously commit to the wonderful propositions we coin? Are we so trapped in this old structure of resource-export economy that we can't do anything about the situation? How do we apply our intelligence and ingenuity to address these challenges?  Can we still look forward into a blessed future, while drawing inspiration from the beds of our souls, the values of our rich traditions and the opportunities embedded in our presence? These thoughts visited me and felt it could help us reflect on our relevance as a people living our dr

How many moments did you fully live today? How many smiles did you skip or ignored? What impact did you make this day? There are a lot I guess. Have we set free the captives in our lives? Have we helped in alleviating the burden of the oppressed? Were we able to break the heavy yoke on the down trodden? Have we shared our bread with the hungry or water with the thirsty? Did we care to even shelter the homeless or cloth the destitute and the naked? Did we care to listen to the pleas of the needy or the silent request of that neighbour? Or did we turn our back on them and just overlooked them? It's good to be happy but its better to cause the happiness of others by living the duty of CARE. I trust you had a blissful day? What's in the air? What's the colour of the air? What do you see in the sky? At any given moment, we are likely to be perceiving something, or transmitting, intercepting or receiving messages. Whatever message it is that we are transmitting, let us be sensitive about how we go about it; be selective about what we transmit, how and when we receive the messages we hear; and be mindful of what we recall and at what time we do that. Democracy without discipline is dangerous. Rights without responsibility is risky. Religion without responsive action is a disaster. Reform without a holistic vision of betterment for all is perilous.   Politics without patriotic people is an incurable plague. Education without lasting evolutionary values is a calamity. Independence without a collective will to work for the common good is hazardous. A Nation without firm character is an unsafe venture.
