YOUR TRUE WEALTH

History is replete with the account of people going to every length and extent to seek riches.
Millions have for centuries chased this material comfort promised by riches. Others have sacrificed their dignity, lost their lives, with many being maimed in the search of this material riches.
Countries have fought wars just to satisfy the lust for these riches.
Companies still survive on the fruits of the sweat, toils and labour of people, so they can make an impact, while they milk their profit.
Our society has accepted the dictum that money or richness is the currency of significance, status and power.
The importance placed on monetary riches has made our social structure a blessed republic of money worshipers.

Our Musicians continue to remind us of the relevance and essence of monetary riches, while our teachers and schools always reinforce this societal understanding subtly on the schooled.
Religion which should guide us to understand the dynamics better is also suspect of this game.
Monetary richness is good but a terrible accident when that is the only wealth we have.

Permit me to tell you this truth that everybody is wealthy. You and I are.
You're rich if you have life and sound health.
You're rich if you can see the beauty of life, feel the sense of touch, and operate in your environment.
You're rich in vitality and willingness to make a difference.
You're enriched by your dreams, thoughts, knowledge, understanding and insight.
You're enriched by the gift of time and your unique experiences.
But your true wealth lies in the lives of the people who are concerned about your well-being.
Your true wealth is in the number of souls you've touched.
Your true wealth is in the valuable relationship you cultivate with people.
Your wealth is defined by the worthy counts of moments you share with people, especially those who are considered lower on the social ladder.

So long as your first and last bath on earth will be done by other people, it is our duty to make care for people our concern.
So long as we need people when we are vulnerable, may we value people, while we share in the richness of humanity.
The basic fact is that you are because I am. May God help us further discover this true wealth and leverage it to human advancement.
Be blessed abundantly and have a wonderful weekend.
