What are We Taking for Granted?

Image
The news was served on various outlets. And like wildfire it got to every corner of the world. But as usual, we previewed it with our defensive or jeering lenses of talks. We spoke on end of the issue and I dare say it would become one of the talking points in a country so blessed. However, beyond the schemes and spins of this game, maybe we should be thinking of the subtle context of the many plots and valid questions of conscience. But come to think of it, are taking ourselves seriously?  Are we taking ourselves for granted? Are we taking the bread and butter issues seriously? Are we taking unemployment issues for granted? Are we taking our children's education seriously? Are we taking the Ghanaian and for that matter Afrikans seriously? Perhaps we can ask, how are using the Power we have from our People? How are we treating the topic of corruption in our body politic? How are we tackling our security issues? Are we ready to handle the insurgency and insec

Torch of Patriots

We have learned and heard the beautiful narratives of our 'foremothers' and forefathers. We have listened to the tales and reasoned with or contested the logic of why they did what they did. We have even dared to drag their ghosts into the witness box of our present open courts of our talks of thoughts. But even in agreeing to equalise the scores of the importance of who our ancestors were and what role they played in the birth of our country, we can't deny the place of the one πŸ”¦ Torchbearer, Kwame Nkrumah.  We may not like all his tactics, antics or strategies or even his odd ways, because he was only a mortal just like his compatriots who also had their shortcomings. But can we quantify all the debt we owe our ancestors? Can we weigh their enormous contributions to our growth. Is it possible we can celebrate the honour in the values they lived and sought to preach? Is it possible we can thank the Most High God of all ages for giving them to us? Inasmuch as the e

VERSES OF A REPUBLIC

Good evening fellow citizens. In remembering the toils and sacrifices made for the attainment of our republican status; I like to specially salute the efforts of our ancestors and πŸ‘‰πŸΏyour effort as a citizen, however small they may be.   Truth is that πŸ‘‰πŸΏyour effort is still needed for our collective growth. πŸ‘‰πŸΏYour unique abilities are inborn and God given and a fraction of what you already exert. πŸ‘‰πŸΏYour character and attitude are pivotal virtues necessary to transform these unique abilities to help advance the cause of humanity. πŸ“ŒHowever, we have a duty to listen carefully to the eternal rhythms, act cautiously in order to advance courageously. πŸ“ŒThe danger to avoid in this drive is the spirit of pride, complacency and pretending to be what we are not.  πŸ“ŒLet us therefore cloth ourselves with prudent zeal, honest intent, as well as respect for one another and ensure equitable development for all in this our REPUBLIC. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡πŸŒΉπŸ‡¬πŸ‡πŸŒΏπŸΎπŸŒ²πŸŒΏπŸ’₯ Good evening. Remain blessed.

WHERE DO WE STAND?

"Do your best" is a silent motto some friends shared in the early 90s. They strived to be the very best even in the very bad things they planned doing and got the needed attention they didn't bargain for. Over the years we hear how people with names in business, politics, media, religion and other spheres of endeavour, try their very best in life to maintain their influence and keep their position. Yet we have seen and heard serious and disturbing rhetorics of what we ought to do to be the best and how we have to do it well, only for us to arrive on the scene and perpetuate the same old order. And for the past 59 years of our nationhood most of us have been talking and following the same old pattern of import led economy. We have been talking about the beautiful misfit in our lives, while a huge deficit of our needs still hangs in the air. We have been clapping and celebrating all the time, when we are least regarded in the world. We have been talking and talking

POSITIVE CONSCIOUSNESS

Legends are born in every generation. Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was one of them and you are the other legend yet to be discovered.  It's true Dr. Nkrumah understood his call and worked towards it. And even with such exceptional qualities, and God's favour, he still needed to work with people to attain the level of development he brought to Ghana and the consciousness he raised among Afrikans and the world at large. People are important in every progress march, that's why I still believe in you as a capable member of this progressive force. And I have no doubt in my mind that we are a blessed but strange people. I have never doubted in our collective ability to do great things. I have a firm conviction that we can do a lot more for ourselves if we change our mindsets, rethink our actions and learn from the man we honour this day and from other patriots. I have this believe that we can generate unique home grown plans and create the things we need for our betterment.
