The Rains
T he tender whips of the rain quenches the earth's thirst. It waters the land and moistens it for planting. Even though a lot of farmers anticipate its arrival in the season, with prayers and hope, the pouring of the rains doesn't only fall on the soils of their farms or on their roofs. We also enjoy the gifts of the rains and its soothing effects on our lives and sometimes share in the perennial troubles that visit us after every heavy downpour. And since we affect each other, it's only proper that we share in the beauty of life by caring for each other. By so doing, a lot of our challenges could easily be solved when we identify the threads that knit us together us a unique humanity. It's therefore my prayer this day that we may appreciate the basic value of care that binds our common humanity together, even as we share the gift of life this day.
