From the farms of our toil, From the farms of our hope, From the farms of our works, We are blessed with a bountiful harvest and wonderful meals cooked in our kitchens. In eating from the farms of our kitchen, we are assured of sumptuous meals daily. However, the tempting invitation to drink and eat to quench our thirst and hunger, make us forget our farmers. But in thanking our chefs for displaying their culinary skills to prepare the many meals, we have to thank our farmers too for their efforts. They don't just deserve our salutation but our appreciation. But it's not enough to just recognise our farmers with national awards scheme. Indeed, the planting for food and jobs, and rearing for food and jobs is a good move by the government, but we have to ensure its success and make the programme more inclusive. To appreciate our Farmers better, we have to rethink our land tenure system and how we lessen the challenges associated with acquiring land for our farms. ...
