Adaptation is Key

Image
We have learned and heard a lot in this time.  We have been humbled by the reality of the weaknesses in our inadequacies. But beyond our lamentations of the appropriateness or otherwise of these locks, We have to brace ourselves to acclimatise. In pondering over the options available to us in this situation, what can we do better?  We certainly cannot be in a panic situation all the time and continue begging to be relevant.  So as we reflect on the deficits in our safety nets, we have to rethink building responsive and sustainable systems. We have to adapt and stay safe.  It is advisable not to consult your fears in these uneasy times.  It's wise not to confer with our frustration or the many enticing rhetorics in town.  Instead, concern rhetoric with your hopes and your dreams of an end to this pandemic. Cuddle your anxieties, uncertainties, and suspicions and preserve yourself, by being cautious. Greetings to you. ©KYB ✍🏿20/04/2020

A Test of Our Resilience

Image
We cannot fully comprehend all the unfolding phenomena around us. It's terrifying reading about the tall death tolls. It's humbling to learn how fragile we are all are.  It's stunning to know how precious life is in all this.   This happening which took us by surprise is a litmus test of our resilience, and our efforts so far.  Whether humanity has done well or failed, this time calls for deep introspection into our talks and deeds as well as our relationship with others. Although a test, it still offers us a unique opportunity to rethink to reform our odd ways, and transform to build an equitable and fairer society.  It's my prayer we learn our lessons to respect our relationships, mend mend brokenness and reconnect to our core values as a caring people. So Help us God ©KYB ✍🏿18/04/2020

Stay Active, Stay Safe

Image
We heard the update of the tally of cases so far.  The number of persons infected with COVID-19 keeps rising. The fear, anxiety, and uncertainties still rage on as we are all at risk. Indeed, the changes in our routines amidst calls for us to stay home is uneasy.  The thought of people losing their jobs, or the anxiety of losing one, and shutting down of the heartbeat of economic activities is devastating. While others have to deal with hunger, inadequate funds among others, during this lock down, it is necessary we have to brace ourselves to curb the spread of the virus. It's true some of the measures put in place will inconvenience us and there will need to support the most vulnerable in our society. While pondering over the state of affairs, in order to get through this tumultuous time, let's do what we can to be safe and focus on opportunities to rebuild.  It is likely boredom and fatigue may set in as we stay home, but we can engage in some activities and moder

Great Sacrifices

Image
Nothing comes easy in life. Nothing is absolutely free in this world. It is a fact that every accomplishment in life comes at a cost.  Indeed, history is replete with great sacrifices men made in order to fulfill a destined mission. Sometimes the harrowing tales of these sacrifices can be discouraging and deterring.  Nevertheless, an appreciation of the crown of Christ redirects us to reflect on the Cross he carried. As a people, we are the ones to carry our own crosses in order to attain the crowns we seek. It's therefore imperative for us to reflect on the worthy sacrifices we have to make in the past and present. It's necessary for us to contemplate on sacrifices we are even making as individuals, families, and society during this COVID-19 era so that we can contain the spread, manage the cases, address the uneasiness and prepare for the future.  Without the Good Friday, there wouldn't be any Easter celebration for Christendom. This also means that in every b

Together We Can

Image
The Friday assembly was rare in our basic school. And the thought of the weekend around the corner increased our anxiety. So in no time, the assembly ground was packed with anxious pupils. We were at the back playing our mischief when my name was mentioned among other boys.  You can imagine the look on my face and the thought running through my mind. I panicked and started thinking through the defence I will be giving to any charges.  I managed to say a prayer to God to forgive me and mitigate any punishment. I reluctantly walked to the front while looking on the floor as if trying to find a lost coin.  Our headmaster cleared his throat and greeted the school in his usually strict voice and started his chorus of what we ought to do right. And mentioned my name and the others who planted some trees in our surroundings and tendered the school garden during the holidays.  You can imagine my mood when the assembly clapped for us. Often time, we feel shy owing up for things we d

April's Note

Image
Appraising our discretion is necessary. Collaborating with others is important. Working with people is crucial at this moment. However, staying home at this time and being cautions is essential.  As April comes, let's appreciate our safety. And acknowledge the beauty of solitude. Keep the peace and stay safe. BE STRONG

Image
The Global pandemic has jolted us in many respects. Besides the good information being shared, fake news and half-truths are also trending.  It is a fact we are all worried and need assurance, support, and hope. I am not trying to put on some front that I'm not worried about this pandemic. In fact, acknowledging and managing our feelings at this time is part of building good stamina to go through these tough tides. May we be blessed with wisdom to navigate through time and become better.  Let's Be Strong and STAY SAFE. Greetings  ©KYB ✍🏿29-03-2020
