Great Sacrifices

Nothing comes easy in life.
Nothing is absolutely free in this world.
It is a fact that every accomplishment in life comes at a cost.
Indeed, history is replete with great sacrifices men made in order to fulfill a destined mission.
Sometimes the harrowing tales of these sacrifices can be discouraging and deterring.
Nevertheless, an appreciation of the crown of Christ redirects us to reflect on the Cross he carried. As a people, we are the ones to carry our own crosses in order to attain the crowns we seek.

It's therefore imperative for us to reflect on the worthy sacrifices we have to make in the past and present. It's necessary for us to contemplate on sacrifices we are even making as individuals, families, and society during this COVID-19 era so that we can contain the spread, manage the cases, address the uneasiness and prepare for the future.

Without the Good Friday, there wouldn't be any Easter celebration for Christendom.
This also means that in every bad situation there's a glimmer of hope for learning and an opportunity to advance.

The COVID-19 has terribly exposed the delicate leadership challenge we have and the half-truths and fatal fallacies they have been telling us about our development in health, food security, emergency preparedness among others.
We have realised how unserious our supposed tainted talks have contributed to misrepresenting the facts of our collective aspirations and misdirected our focus of development, which is reduced to petty populist party politics.

Beyond our gregarious efforts to participate in these cycles of elections, perhaps we should rethink whether the import-led economy we have been practicing is still worth holding on to.

We should seriously reflect whether the investment we are making in the health care sector is enough to sustain us.

We ought to also reflect on whether the attitude of the Ghanaian or Afrikan led prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 is sustainable.

We need to rethink the place of ICT, innovation, Ethics and Values in our national life.

There is no doubt we need a social support system to help those on the fringes of our economy. Indeed,  as a matter of urgency, the leaders of this country should consider establishing a strong psycho-social support system for our people.

There's a greater need to come together and work together to relook at our Emergency and Epidemic Preparedness in this country so that we would not be caught pants down again.

The opportunity offered by this outbreak should help us to not only reconsider the adoption of a National Development Plan but to be committed to ensuring the attainment of these plans in a sustainable way.

Since sustainable and integrated development is an enthusiastic way to go, we cannot continue paying lip services to what we should be doing but we must act with one accord to CARE for the present and future of our country.

May the Most High be merciful and help us make the needful sacrifices in order to survive. And may we continue to stay home and stay safe.
Greetings to you.
