Stay Positive

Image
Chronic or constant stress has gained notoriety in our society today. Stress from noises from our streets, market centres and churches; the daily heavy vehicular traffic on our roads, coupled with stress from our relationships, or from heavy workload, and stress exacerbated by the frustration from our institutions and systems, as well as pressures or demands from our society to do this or that,  subtly affect our wellbeing. For some time now, our weekends are no longer suitable for relaxation, neither are the numerous holidays enough for our relaxation. This is because of our numerous social commitments. It is therefore common to see the average Ghanaian worker already tired on Mondays of all days. In fact, from our current social arrangements, it's becoming impossible to escape stress, which follows us everywhere we go, due to our many engagements. Interestingly, Healthbeat (a publication by Harvard University) reports that stress triggers a wide range of health issues, incl

Be Encouraged

Never be discouraged by the antics of opposition. But be at peace with yourself, and keep your focus in doing what you know is right. Wishing you a beautiful day. Be blessed. Greetings #KYB ✍🏿®#

What are your Fears?

Image
The morning was mildly warm with this teary dry breeze, tickling the leaves of the trees in the neighbourhood on that Thursday. It was one of the happy holidays when school was on recess. And after hurriedly finishing the chores, yours sincerely went out to holiday. The thought of riding a bicycle was exciting. So, I mounted one troublesome  'buzanga' bicycle to have a ride on that day. This was after bargaining with the owner who was hiring the bikes, for my choice of the newest mountain bike. But he won't release that bike, because my little savings for the week, couldn't meet the fee the guy was charging for hiring the mountain bike. So, I reluctantly settled for the other tired but resilient 'buzanga' bike. I moved on the newly shaved feeder road linking the town to the hospital city and hastily paddled the bike to gather speed, I needed to climb down the hill. Just when I was about climbing down the small hill at the outskirt of the city, a

Listen Carefully

Image
There was one catechist Yaw, who always asked us to listen to and be obedient to our parents. I remember asking him whether we should still be obedient even when what we were asked to obey did not make sense.  My friends giggled and laughed at me, as he (the catechist) tried answering me with another question,(the Ghanaian way). But since I was hungry and wanted the class to end, I couldn't afford to expend my little energy on that argument. Often, during the penultimate round of the televised Science & Maths Quiz, for Science Student in our secondary schools,  the Quiz Mistress usually asks the contestant to listen with rap attention for the set of riddle questions. Similarly, in our various homes and institutions too, we are entreated to listen or is it obey instructions and orders.  The case is same in our lives too, as we are supposed to also listen carefully to not only the rhythms of life, but to the music, the cries, the unsaid truths, and the messages fr

A New Privilege

Image
As an offshoot of divine providence, we are endowed with spiritual and intellectual resources, which we are required to utilised in serving humanity. With the privilege to live the grace in this new day, we are obliged to breathe new vitality in our best values. So, let's be willing to keep the valuable parts of our heritage and make the best of this moment. Please accept my best wishes for this day. God bless you. #KYB ✍🏿®#

Miracles Abound

Image
A friend shared with me how God has been so good to him in the last few weeks and I thank God for his mercies. However, in a sublime way, the thought of our relatives, family and friends, as well as the many people walking in the towns, cities and towns came to mind. The thought stretched to our people  on the fringes of our society and I asked, so who takes care of all of us? How are we able to live these experiences and still able to walk? It still baffles me how we manage to survive through these storms and are able to smile in our stroll. Miracles exist and I know God is still in the miracle business every moment. Perhaps that's why I disagreed with my friend, when he recounted how God's miracle was profound in his life last week. May be these miracles might be subtle and normal that we often don't consider them as such or take them for granted.   But truth be told, the God factor in all our endeavours is very relevant in our survival every minute. It is there

Problem Solvers

Image
Every day comes with its unique problems and challenges. Everyone has their share of the problems to deal with, but since there are always problems to face, we could help ourselves by proffering solutions to these problems. There are some gargantuan problems that need huge efforts and there are medium and little ones we can handle at our levels.   Since problems will always be there for us to solve, we all have a duty to generate solutions. But we suffer mostly because of our impatience to properly think through alternative actions while keeping our cool when trying to address the problem. We know of others who refer to their pillows for solutions and others resorting to friends or wise people or alternative views. Yet, others prefer to drink over their problems, or act victim over their problem instead of taking steps to address them. But the real challenge has been our approaches in handling these problems. Some of which include the firefighting approach, the wait-and-see appro
