Miracles Abound

Image
A friend shared with me how God has been so good to him in the last few weeks and I thank God for his mercies. However, in a sublime way, the thought of our relatives, family and friends, as well as the many people walking in the towns, cities and towns came to mind. The thought stretched to our people  on the fringes of our society and I asked, so who takes care of all of us? How are we able to live these experiences and still able to walk? It still baffles me how we manage to survive through these storms and are able to smile in our stroll. Miracles exist and I know God is still in the miracle business every moment. Perhaps that's why I disagreed with my friend, when he recounted how God's miracle was profound in his life last week. May be these miracles might be subtle and normal that we often don't consider them as such or take them for granted.   But truth be told, the God factor in all our endeavours is very relevant in our survival every minute. It is there

Problem Solvers

Image
Every day comes with its unique problems and challenges. Everyone has their share of the problems to deal with, but since there are always problems to face, we could help ourselves by proffering solutions to these problems. There are some gargantuan problems that need huge efforts and there are medium and little ones we can handle at our levels.   Since problems will always be there for us to solve, we all have a duty to generate solutions. But we suffer mostly because of our impatience to properly think through alternative actions while keeping our cool when trying to address the problem. We know of others who refer to their pillows for solutions and others resorting to friends or wise people or alternative views. Yet, others prefer to drink over their problems, or act victim over their problem instead of taking steps to address them. But the real challenge has been our approaches in handling these problems. Some of which include the firefighting approach, the wait-and-see appro

Grateful for the Experiences

With a boyish confidence which enveloped us in the cloth of innocence, we walked the mile of grace. Though we did not know much then, we never disappointed in our quest to survive. We were certainly not saints in our efforts to scale the challenges the big boys or life generally posed, but we lived. And since I am not a saint, I know I might have stepped on some toes in the course of this walk. So, to those I have wronged intentionally and unintentionally, I ask for pardon. To those who tasted my gentle roughness, and those I might have ignored or been unfair to, I implore your pardon.  Finally, to those people in my life who have skillfully used the game of power and privilege to manipulate, abuse and to take advantage of my vulnerability, and caused me pain over the years; To those who were impatient with me and misjudged my intentions and actions; To those who pretended to care but took advantage of me, with some misrepresenting the facts with embellished lies to m

Our Inspirers

Of the thousands of spectators who cheer or shout the loud chants of g-o-o-o-o-a-l in every football game; Of the many who become disappointed or hurt when the score lines go against their team or their candidate disappoints in any contest; our coaches and coaches who express their opinions criticise and offers what they think is the best solution. Sometimes one becomes confused listening to these question with varied suggestions. Sometimes it even becomes annoying trying to digest all their recommendations. But I guess that why God gave us two ears in order to hear and listen to them and think through our options or actions. However you see it, in our lives too, there are coaches, mentors and concern people as well as inspires or motivators who speak into our lives and constantly encourage us to get going. Although every spectator may appear to be a coach, there are few genuine ones who go the extra mile to celebrate with us and loyal enough to walk with us when the going gets tou

Every moment someone is travelling by air, water and land. On land, road or vehicular transport accounts for about 75% transportation, with rail transport making up the rest. Aside from the rough and inconvenient road network, which make road transport unpleasant in Ghana. Road and Traffic Accident (RTA) has become a problematic issue and a major source of morbidity and mortality with costly implications. Current statistics on road accidents and road related deaths are scaring. The colossal loss and discomfort caused hundreds of thousands maimed through accidents cannot be quantified. Globally, an estimated 1.2 million road users are involved in accidents. The situation is not different in Afrika. From January to September 2018, the Ghana National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) reports 10051 crashes of 16,281 Vehicles, with 1,710 fatalities and 9973 injuries. Between the same period, 194 deaths have been reported on the Madina-Adenta highway and another death yesterday. A close l

Thanks to our Chefs

Yaw was seriously licking his fingers while wiping the sweat trickling down his face with his cream handkerchief when I got to the Noah's arch Canteen that warm afternoon. There was a mild queue of young famish guys waiting for their turn to place their order. I had wanted to join but thought I could share some pleasantries with Yaw. Monetarily, I saw this sunburnt fellow waved at the waiter to give him the transparent miniature toothpick bottle on an adjacent table so he could remove the stubborn piece of meat that got stuck in the gaps of his kola-stained teeth. His facial expression and that of calm Yaw was enough proclamation of a good meal. And I surmised they really enjoyed the meal. There are days we fast from food but the truth is that we all eat to live and grow. Sometimes we only enjoy the meals without appreciating the chefs through who's culinary skills the meals are prepared to quench our hunger. Often time, it's painful after going through the tr
