The Political Dream

I woke up thrice at night before this new day. I was sweating profusely especially seeing the same dream for the third time. I found myself in a wilderness observing a  people who lived happily & peacefully. They looked cheerful, courteous & content then, but they're hungry for more progress so they're  discontent or displeased with what they had & sought  more contentment for themselves in the People's Power structure. In the dream, I saw Family Politics perfectly interacting harmoniously with Politics of Agriculture, Politics of Health, Politics of Relationships, Responsibility & Respect. From where I was sitting in my Village Republic Square, I could see Politics of Education, Politics of Class, Politics of Economics, Politics of Interest Aggregation, Politics of Creed, Leadership Politics talking & working with National Policies for Progress. However on the flip side, I saw Politics of Mischief  fanning the flames of Politics of Deceit & Intell

On free promises

The talk of freedom and Justice is good. But the promise of free speech, free education, free healthcare, free everything including free promises all the time is unsatisfactory. With an over hyped free system, our society has notoriously become too negligent and somehow irresponsible in living our side of the bargain to ensure these free things happen. That everything has a price means there's nothing for free and that there's a price we must pay, or some sacrifices we'll have to make. As a people, we must consciously also promote the discipline of a responsive and responsible leadership and citizenry. That way we can all enjoy the freedom and justice we clamour for. May God bless us even as we step out into this new day. Good morning  🌡 🌱

Be Blessed

I had work to do every vacation with the boys in my neighbourhood. We hunted lizards, chased rats and mice in our area and disturbed the grasshoppers. In our every day life too, many of us are still chasing our dreams, security, money and grasping material things or chasing work, prestige, pleasure and outer beauty. Some of us too appear to be chasing approval from others, love from others. People are chasing people, chasing the latest trend in technology, fashion etc. Others also chase success, happiness and power to no avail. Truth is that we lose ourselves in this chase craze of our lives and miss the point we're truly created for. It's better to divorce those fears that makes us insecure and pushes us in this chase craze and live our dreams today. But it's best to seek the Lord your God first and His righteousness, while following your passion no matter what others tell you, because that's your true calling. It's my prayer Yahweh help us live our true calling as

God counted you

Listening to our teacher mark the Class Register every morning was somehow boring and provoked our adrenaline back then, because we immediately dreaded the hot mental lessons that followed. We were also happy when our names get mentioned among the best pupil and we became equally frightened when we're called for punishment. But just imagine God waking us up each morning and counting us worthy to live this day. Like Jesus who mentioned Mary of Magdala's name in John 20:16 and got her delighted, may we also be delighted and be grateful that God called and counted us among the living this day. And may Yahweh share with us the fruits of His son's victory over death. Be blessed.

Be receptive to all

It's a breezy morning but I was getting bored about the unnecessary delay I had been subjected to at the Passport Office. Then a gentleman with Kola-stained teeth and sweat trickling down his sun-burnt face approached. He was selling books on how to write good letters and CVs among others. Aside his unkempt looks, he spoke impeccable English at least to market the books, but his appearance sent a bad impression to all and we somehow avoided him. Then in a quiet mood I revisited th e man's visit and asked what if he was Jesus Christ visiting, perhaps I might have failed in giving him a warm reception. We sometimes dismiss or avoid people based on their appearance, creed, disability, our experiences or prejudices or stereotypes or perhaps because we're being too cautious of criminals. But the fact is that even they (the suspected criminals) are dressing well of late. So why must we judge or avoid others by their appearance? Maybe we should be more receptive & spend some m

Behind the close door

While on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital sometime in March 1998, curiosity got the better part of me. So a friend and I decided to open this door adjacent the theatre, which is always closed. Though my friend quickly slammed the door, I was stunned by what I saw that day. They were remains of both young and old people, as well as all class of human beings. I knew then that I could be one of them. Looking at their state, as they lay there naked, wearing only panties, I rhetorically ask myself, so where are we heading with our greed, excessive love for material things, hatred for one another and all the things we do to preserve ourselves or secure our immediate gratification? Realising that we one day die and living behind all our  possessions, I think  we seriously need to soberly reflect on our lives, see how best we can adjust in every situation and be good people. Be Blessed

Beautiful Guests

Every morning, I have the pleasure of receiving two beautiful guests. The birds come as early as 5:30am chirping & perhaps saying good morning. But upon a closer observation I realised they were rather admiring their reflections in the glass window. Like the two birds we also look into our mirrors from time to time. I don't like looking into the mirror but I get to see it whenever I visit the barbering shop to have a haircut. What does the mirror tell you when you look at it? Are you pleased with what you see? People will tell you things but get your true assessment from your mirror. Maybe you need to wear that smile always because you're blessed. - KYB
