Remember Them
*REMEMBER THEM*
In every home or community,
We see their footprints in our families,
Their voices evoke their presence in our minds.
And their mannerisms dot our smiles or tears.
Yes, a while ago, they walked, talked, and stalked time.
A while ago, they lived, believed, and smiled with us.
A while ago, they wept, crept, and kept faith in hope.
A while ago, O! Yes, they passed the moments of sweet sufferings and strange struggles of the hour.
A while ago, they also enjoyed and endured the joys or trivialities of life, our insensitive reactions, and stereotypes of our humanity.
But today, they're long gone with the whistle of time.
Today they've long kissed the ashes of eternity.
Their souls have transited the realms of our tides.
That we cannot deny how they affected us on this path,
Or erase their names in our vivid narrative, means we have to REMEMBER these kindred SOULS.
If for nothing at all, remember they were with us yesterday.
If for nothing at all, remember they are part of our many stories and somehow contributed to where we are now.
If for nothing at all, let's remember these souls in our invocations today.
Though some are painfully fresh in our memories, while time has long hidden some precious memories, their memorials still stand tall with those inexplicable feelings of loss and fond memories.
I don't know what you remember about them but if for nothing at all, let's remember to be humble in our lives, live lasting legacies worth remembering, and live ever-prepared.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in endless peace.
