WHAT ARE YOU ADDICTED TO?

Oxygen is vital for our survival here, the same way hope is in our lives.
In human life, apart from God, who's God and yet a complex reality in our lives, we equally need one another to live and some things to enhance our lives.

However, the challenge arises when we become excessively addicted to material things or certain practices which are
detrimental to our well-being.

Loosely referred to as a chronic relapsing brain disease, addiction is characterized by exposure to something that tickles a compulsive urge in us to attain satisfaction, through a strong attachment to or use of certain products, service or practices, despite the full or partial knowledge of the harmful consequences.

Today, drug addicts are very common like the chemical shops in town.
Alcoholics are thrice the number of 'blue kiosks' or drinking pubs we've registered.
Sadist are as many as the number of death mongers.
There are as many porn/sex addicts twice as much as the peeping Toms.
Today, there're more phone addicts or social media addicts just as much as game addicts.
There are TV addicts, thrice as much as internet addicts.
There are sweet addicts, travel addicts, cigarette addicts, gluttons, kleptomaniac, MONEY addicts, Love addicts, adjunct provocateur and naughty or mischiefs, roaming our towns and villages.
The list is endless but you know what you are addicted to.

The bad news is that the Advertiser in projecting, enticing or persuading you to test, try or even adopt what they're offering to you as programmes, products or services and making money from, are mostly unwilling to tell you that ADDICTION can lead to serious sickness and avoidable deaths. This is not to say all programmes are geared towards making you an addict. There are good programmes though.
But the good news is that you have the power within to control yourself in balancing your addiction and seeking the right help to manage them.

You can equally pray and make a conscious effort to fast from some of these tempting addictions.
But in all your endeavours, please remember your well-being is paramount to me, so kindly take care of yourself.
And please don't hesitate to seek help if you're seriously struggling with some addictions.

What's your addiction?
What are you addicted to?
What's motivating your attachment?
Is there something we can do about it?
Can you make that conscious effort?
I know it's difficult though but it's surmountable.
May God bless you in your strive this day.
Best wishes to you.
