What are you chasing?

We had a serious task as boys, some few decades ago. Our work was interesting but intensified during every vacation with colleagues of equal mischief and energy in the neighbourhood. Our duty was simply hunting for selected insects and reptiles, rodents, birds among others.
We hunted for lizards by stoning them, chased rats and mice in our area, and also disturbed the grasshoppers in our small football field at the village.
It was fun then playing and chasing these vulnerable animals in the sunny fields, but we became very exhausted by the end of every hunting episode, and will peacefully sleep without eating.
Similarly, in our lives too, many of us are still chasing our dreams, security, money and endless drills of comfort or chasing work deadlines, prestige, pleasures and positions for recognition.
Some of us too appear to be chasing approval or love from others.
People are chasing people, with others too chasing the latest trend in technology, fashion, gossip etcetera. Some are also caught in the unrelenting race for success, happiness and power to no avail. Arguably, in our world today, we are almost always caught in this chase craze of one thing or the other. And could be a likely contributing factor to the increasing stress level in our lives.
However, truth is that we lose ourselves in this chase craze of our lives and miss the point or the reason for which we were created. Perhaps it is a difficult to propose that we cease from these chasing, but it's better to divorce ourselves from those fears that make us insecure and pushes us in this chasing spree in order to live this beautiful but complex reality.
In all, it is best to seek the Lord your God first, identify your very purpose (mission) for living and cultivate a healthy relationship with yourself, others and your God.
It is my prayer this day that the Almighty God will guide and help us live our true calling as a people.
May He grant us the courage to find ourselves, and be ourselves in order to live the beautiful dreams in our chests.
Be blessed.
