Beyond our reflections over whether to lift or ease these restrictions is a thorny issue of how we will rebuild and relive our lives.  But before then, there are precautionary measures we have to still adhere to in this new normal of our state. In all sincerity, 2020 hasn't been going well with many people, due to COVID -19 pandemic.  There were times friends joked that we should even uninstall the year 2020. Although every year is filled with its own ups and downs, we couldn't have bargained for the panic of a pandemic in this year. With the biting effects of this tide, we have perhaps seen how deeply interconnected we are.  We might have realised the essence of making time for people in our lives and to reach out to others. Whether we are living in the same space or talking via technology, our interactions with each other should be strengthened so that together we can pool through this period unscathed. The significance of organic solidarity should not elude us as

Working Together for Afrika's Renaissance

Image
We heard the merits and demerits in our lamentations. We are aware of our deadly stereotypes nibbling at our progress.  We are aware of the benefits, working together for our common vision will inure to us, but we prefer the perks and expensive money from our colonial masters.  We are aware of the risk and toils our forefathers went through to get us here, but we appear to have betrayed their worthy motive. We live in the sunshine of our graceful wealth and yet we are the least beneficiary of these abundant gifts.  We're aware of our own failings and the forces that work against our efforts to integrate and stay united.  We are also aware of our own acts of petty politicking that is working against us.  It's a fact that our liberation struggle is still on and we have an arduous task to finish the unfinished agenda of our liberation.  As Robert Nestor Marley echoed in his Redemption Song, we all have a duty to "emancipate ourselves from mental slavery, none but

Greater Discipline

Image
A Discipline life can help us stay focused in times like this. It's maybe challenging to insist on a 100 percent compliance in most instances.  However, an appreciation of greater discipline and respect for basic COVID-19 preventive measures are still vital to help navigate through these uneasy tides. And although we still need to rethink an authentic social support system, it is my prayer that the Most High grants us strong convictions over our fears; a clearer vision over our doubts; a spiritual sensitivity over popular opinion, and greater self-esteem high confidence over our belittling dependence on foreign handouts, so that we can find local solutions to our challenges. Wishing you the very best of this new week.  Kindly Stay strong and Be safe. Greetings ©KYB ✍🏿17/05/2020

Authenticity

Image
We may stumble, struggle, and even be stranded at some point in time on our various journeys. We might have even failed or fumbled in finding our favourable fortune, But in exploring this adventure of our authenticity, may we never forget the valuable lessons we learn. May we ever be mindful of the little things we have to do while being sincere to leverage our experiences to build.     Stay safe. Regard  ©KYB ✍🏿16/05/2020

Kudos to Every Mother

Image
We are aware of your efforts and concerns even in these uncommon tides. We know the extra efforts you make in these moments to still manage. We may not understand your fears and your excesses in being a mother. We may not like how some of you react emotionally and take things too far, in your bid to protect your boundaries and care for us. We might like some of your styles in putting the fear of the Lord in us. But your presence in the family equation makes the parenting experience a wonderful one.  We have not forgotten about the warmth you exude and the tact you bring to bear. Your motherly function with some support from our fathers in catering for the needs of the family is still critical. Kudos to all our Mothers, Mums, Mummy, Mamas, Mommies, Maas. Congrats to single our mothers still struggling to live this role dutifully. And respects to everyone, especially those who support our mothers to live their duty. To you our mothers, we say Ahekoo. To every mother strugglin

Continue Staying Safe

We least expected a pandemic could sneak on us. We didn't even bargain for the pause in our pulse. Neither did we anticipate the effects it would have on our very survival. There are higher rates of anxiety, distress, depression, and other silent tides blowing too.  With sentiments of concern in these times, we still have to be strong on our sail.  We have to be unwavering in our efforts contain the spread, ensure our survival, and continue to build. To this end, the accomplished Nigerian Novelist Ben Okri reminds us that "the most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love, and to be greater than our suffering". So while expressing our discomforts, our irritations,  and our losses let's be sober in our reflection, attentive to the wisdom of the times and act in one accord to solve the challenge. Continue staying safe and explore your capabilities. Wishing you a peaceful weekend. Greetings ©KYB ✍🏿8/05
