A Worthy Sacrifice

We breathe it in our lives,
We exercise it in our daily struggles to succeed.
We even embrace it in our attempt to reach our dreams.
We also live it, whenever we make choices or decisions in every situation.
Whether it is self-denial, concession, or sacrifice,
With every grain of grace comes a condition of sacrifice.
Every venture of endeavour, requires a symbolic sacrifice of time, effort, and resources.
The act of sacrificing is hidden in our efforts to live our duties and exercise our rights and responsibilities.
It is even present when we decide to do nothing in this life.

There's an element of sacrifice in every story or history.
And even though I might not know the true price of sacrifice in everyone's story or life, we are reminded of Father Abraham's faith and his obedience to carry out God's command.
We are reminded of several significant sacrifices made by great leaders of religion and others in many fields.
We are equally reminded of the sacrifices our parents, relatives, friends and teachers made or make in our lives and the ones we also make.

But today, permit me to ask: Are we sacrificing for a good cause or a bad one?
Are we satisfied with the sacrifices we are making today?
Are our sacrifices worthy of emulation?

Whatever sacrifice we make today, let's remember the ripple effect it has on others.
Beyond the immediate gains of what we do, let our sacrifices help us leave lasting legacies to inspire others.
Let the sacrifices we live daily spur a patriotic spirit in our hearts, so that we will work for the betterment of our society  and not sacrifice the peace in our land.
