Stop Food Wastage

It's estimated that 45% of root crops, fruit, and vegetables produced globally are wasted per year. The forecast of 25% of food produced globally feeding 795 million hungry people in the world hurts our collective wellbeing.

With these percentages and the looming food crisis occasioned by the Russian- Ukraine war, there is a need for significant efforts to arrest the food waste epidemic staring at us.

As we mark the 'Stop Food Waste Day' may we adopt practical ways to farm, produce, purchase and reduce food wastage in our homes.
Perhaps we could:
√Avoid buying more food than you need
√Store food correctly
√Preserve our leftovers
√Blend those that you can
√Keep your serving size in check
√Understand the expiration date of food.
√Use the FIFO (First In, First Out) style
√Compost if you can

Food waste is a bigger problem than we realise. But there are endless ways we can adopt to preserve, reduce, reuse and recycle food to STOP Food wastage.
