🇬🇭REDEFINING OUR ETHOS🇬🇭

A Nation that has emerged from the factory of several oppressive regimes, should know the essence of its political independence.
A Nation that is blessed with a rich history of PEOPLE who held the touch of Afrika's liberation and a lot of others who collectively sacrificed and toiled to see this dream live, should know the value of true service and patriotism.
A Nation that remembers its past and celebrates its achievements, should be ready to not only mobilise for the future but inspire and stir a renewed sense of determination, patriotism, and consciousness to guide our efforts to build our Nation and continue this course.

However, it is sad, the narrative of our politico-economic growth continues to be saddled with a cycle of indiscipline, poverty, conflicts, corruption, reckless spending resulting in mismanagement, and nepotism among others.
It is worrying that we still borrow heavily from our so-called development partners to the extent that we are not even able to fully explore our potentials after six decades of political independence.
It is a terrible truth to learn of how we are still struggling to be in charge of our economy, after several years of accepting handouts from the west to guide our progress.

Our gains and failures over these years should certainly provoke us to rethink a mega and workable strategy to handle our development and device ways to avoid the repetition of old vicious cycles of the woes bedevilling our economy.

We have a greater responsibility to change our attitude to reflect our national ethos and consciousness.
We must change our mindsets to mirror the authentic change we desire and clamour for.
And we must change our outlook of things and adopt a progressive perspective in the way we deal with National issues.
Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah was right, when he noted on the eve of independence that: "And as I pointed out...from now on, today, we must change our attitude, and minds. We must realise that from now on we are no longer a colonial people but a FREE and INDEPENDENT people."
This should remind us of the need to work hard, think Ghana first and put Ghana first in all our endeavours while working towards building a united Nation.
We have a duty not to fail the future generation and our forebears who made this day possible through their toils and sacrifices.

So as we entrust ourselves in the care of the Supreme Being, may the challenges we face as a people inspire a positive creative spirit in us to find lasting solutions to our problems.
May we kill the greedy instinct in us and work towards building a Nation with the values of selflessness, integrity and patriotism.
May our 60th independence anniversary galvanise us to rally behind our leaders to develop ourselves and finish the libration agenda of Afrika.

May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and the rest of Afrika. Blessed 60th Independence Anniversary to you all. Peace🌹 #KYB✍🏿 (first published on 7th March 2017)
