Greater Unity

We are all unique and have different tastes.
We differ marginally from each other,
We manifest these differences:
In our daily dealings and efforts;
In our quests and interests;
In our affections and relationships;
In our styles and approaches,
In our families and communities,
In our preferences and positions;
In our cultures, parties, beliefs, and identity.
And in our perspectives, understanding, and how we even practice our religions.
Likewise, our needs, expectations, and experiences make us appreciate or value things differently.

But however different we may be:
Must we tell the world we fight terrible fights?
Must we tell the world we cannot disagree to agree?
Must we tell the world about our petty squabbles on air?
Must we tell the world about the envoys of envy and jealousy renting spaces in our midst?
Must we shout at each other with higher decibels before proving a point?
Must we tell the world our mission is truncated because of mistrust?
Must we tell the world, we cannot handle our differences professionally?
Must we tell our friends that we are not serious about our vision?
Must we tell everyone greed, corruption and negligence are destroying our hopeful mission?

Whatever our differences are:
We shouldn't sacrifice our worth by duping others.
We shouldn't swindle or deceive ourselves that all is well when things are falling apart.
We shouldn't allow the siblings of partisanship, ethnocentrism, and intolerance to disunite us.
We shouldn't pretend all is well when we continue to misbehave, misappropriate and misgovern ourselves.
We shouldn't pretend there is essential hygiene in our political and public spaces?

Indeed, every family has its unique  challenges, problems, and troubles;
Every family has its weaknesses and strengths;
Every family has its low and high points;
But there is no need to go sing those songs of discord to everyone.
There is no need to waste all our energy in the name of making these differences excessively loud without collectively building together.
There is no glory in mischievously amplifying our ills when we can collectively think of ways to proffer lasting solutions to our woes.

So kindly tell those who govern us, to critically think of finding credible solutions to our many challenges, instead of telling us about the baldness of the so-called competent folks.
Tell those who desire to continue governing us to stop engaging in unnecessary political gimmicks.
Tell those in the position of trust that people are no longer interested in their beautiful English or French speeches they continue reading to us.
Tell every family in this comity of nations people deserve the best and not needless lies or deaths.

Beyond the promises of political goodies and politics of religions;
Beyond the pledges of addressing the basic bread and butter issues;
Humanity, need to know how matured our rich patriotic zeal helps us to forge better unity.

While thanking God for bringing us this far as a people, let's remember our families in our supplications.
Even with our perceived differences, disagreements and troubles let's remember to work together to foster GREATER UNITY.
May God strengthen our beautiful families and make it grow in unity and prosperity.
Remain Blessed
