SUMMON OF REASON

There is reason for every action and the duty in life. There is a reason why we ought to care and summon our reasons to live this mission.

Yesterday
The distasteful act of yesterday is still fresh on our minds. The shock and sadness written on many faces is still telling.
But after activating my quiet reflective mood, I still saw many angry faces whose interests would not stop them from getting what they want.(They can even kill and waste human lives, if nothing is done today).

Sad effects
Sad to say we have pampered ourselves too much about our relative peaceful status, and boosted of our being level headed than our neighbours, to the point that they are somehow jealous of us.
In fact, we have taken ourselves for granted and think that we are too docile a people who cannot fight ourselves under our current democratic regime.
We have increased this tempo with our 'fama nyame' attitude and a strong level of superstition, still believing that everything would be fine, when we don't put in pragmatic measures of lasting solutions.

We have for too long sanctioned the activities of vigilante groups in our country and empowered them to act with blatant disregard for our Laws, while we silently bless their actions, without thinking that we were dangerously nurturing monsters who would hurt us in future.
We have somehow turned a blind eye to the inequalities and the widening gap between the have and have not in our society, whereas some of our so called men of God are part of  those worsening our plight.

The Task of Survival
As a result, a lot of people are frustrated and doing the wrong things in the name of survival.
And here we are again condemning the heinous act of a people who perceived one law enforcer as an enemy and murdered him in cold blood.
We have become emotional and caught in the  terrible web of our inhuman attitude and the benign negligence of some of our institutions as well as the growing impatience of a frustrated people.

Summon of Reason
I don't know whether we are proud of the unfolding drama of our collective failure or we are sad about the martyrdom of some eminent and forgotten souls.
I don't know how we are going to mourn this irresponsible culture of death we are subtly promoting through our direct or indirect acts.
I don't know what we can do to avert the dark clouds of lawlessness and terrible drama we are seeing today.
But beyond the 'never again mantra' we have a duty to rise above the ashes of disappointments and be Human Beings again.
We must wake from pretentious slumber and begin to CARE again.
We must rekindle the principle of equity and work towards enhancing a peaceful society.
In this regard, the National Peace Council  should not only preach PEACE during elections, but talk to the power seekers to ACT RIGHT, ENSURE EQUITY, FAIRNESS, AND TRANSPARENCY IN THE ALLOCATION OF NATIONAL RESOURCES.
The Council should as a matter of emergency REMIND our Politicians and the educated elites about the need to do something about their  Careless GREED in the CREED of their service.

As a people, perhaps this is the time to critically rethink our politics, food security and our economic development.
Perhaps this is the time to talk about nation building in its truest sense.
This is the moment to summon our reasons and talk about the things that is causing public Anger.

While praying God to grant the peaceful repose of our martyrs of duty, may we learn to tame our anger and channel them into progressive ends, so help us God.
