CREATIVE STRANDS

In AD 2006 through to 2009, a friend and I enjoyed plantain chips sold on the streets of Accra.
Between the same period, or even before then, a lot of sachet water 'pure water'
businesses appeared and disappeared.
Our 'fufu' has always known the terrible death of being cooked and pounded over and over again mixed with sweats.

Since independence, our cocoa-gold economy has not seen any drastic change. Not even the black gold (oil) could change our import led economy.

From my Village Republic to Accra and the few places I have  been over the years, we've always celebrated Christmas practically in the same manner.

Yet we've never stopped preaching the same old sermons whose flavours no longer affect our too stubborn souls.
We've never stopped dancing to old tunes when there's nothing to dance about.
We've never stopped copying or applying the old notes, when the rhythm of the time keeps changing.
We've never stopped reciting our old litany of complaints, while we virtually do nothing about our questionable odd ways every year.
We've never stopped sharing costly  hampers when there are other creative and cost effective ways of appreciating our clients.

It's true there's a lot of worthy lessons we've to learn from our past.
It's true we have to keep the valuable virtues of our tradition and cultural heritage.
But it's also true that we have to review or revise odd norms in our illicit creeds; we have to kill the  sickening stereotypes and unpleasant prejudices still strolling in the naked paths of our minds.
We have to exorcise the greed that corrupt and bury old realities that infects our holy intent and  make our paths more progressive.

That Christmas represents the coming of creative change in Christ our Lord Jesus, may we embrace this spirit of creative change to enliven our lives and that of others.
That the focus of Christmas is Jesus Christ, who humbly accepted to be man in order to save us, may we humbly access ourselves and to accept our responsibilities to make our lives as creative as possible in order to create the change we badly need for our development.

Remain Blessed. Have a blessed day.  πŸŒΊπŸ’
